We are hosting our first ever Scarecrow Contest!
Families & community members are encouraged to created one of a kind scarecrows to decorate Station Avenue and bring Haunted Heights alive!!
There are a few ways to compete.
1)  Attend our workshop on Sunday, 10/11 from 11am-2pm and craft your own masterpiece! We'll provide a kit and help you make your own. Scarecrows are $25 each to create. Families can create on or more together.  Kits will include a pole, 'head' for the scarecrow, clothing, stuffing, hay, accessories, paint & various decor. 
 If you'd like to bring any specialized accessories to make a specific themed scarecrow please feel free to do so. 
Scarecrows made during our workshop will be taken that day and hung along Station Ave for the competition.
2) Purchase a kit at our workshop on Sunday, 10/11 and take home to create and return to the Library on Monday, 10/12. Each Scarecrow kit is $25.
3) Create a scarecrow with your own supplies and submit for competition on Monday, 10/12 at the Library. Each Scarecrow must be constructed on a plastic or wooden pole in length of 4'-5'. Creations must be securely attached to the center pole and appendages must be secure. PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR SCARECROW. EACH ENTRY WILL BE NUMBERED. 

All designs must be family friendly. NO POLITICAL LEANINGS, OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE OR QUESTIONABLE TOPICS. Your scarecrow must be weather-resistant and sturdy in order to qualify for displaying and judging. We strongly encourage entrants to visit their scarecrows for periodic check-ins. During the time that your entry is on display, you may make any necessary repairs to keep your scarecrow looking its very best. No perishable goods may be used in the construction of your scarecrow, including pumpkins, squash and other plants.

PRIZES. There will be a 1ST PRIZE OF $100 CASH; 2ND PRIZE $75 CASH, 3RD PRIZE- $50 CASH and a JUDGES FAVORITE- $25 CASH!!!

VOTING WILL TAKE PLACE ONLINE. Each scarecrow will have a number and a QR code to vote online. Voters will be asked to vote for their top 3 favorites. Votes must be for 3 different scarecrows. If votes are made fore the same entry 3 times, those votes will be tossed out. 
VOTING WILL TAKE PLACE FROM OCTOBER 13TH UNTIL OCTOBER 31ST.

WINNERS will be notified on NOVEMBER 1ST and prizes can be retrieved at the library on NOVEMBER 2ND. 

WE ASK THAT ALL SCARECROWS BE RETRIEVED FROM THEIR POLES ALONG STATION AVE NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 3RD. Scarecrows will be attached to light poles with zipties that can be cut off with scissors. If you'd like yours returned, please retrieve by the end of November 3rd. ALL LEFTOVER SCARECROWS WILL BE DISPOSED OF AFTER THAT TIME.

All payments must be made in advance to secure a spot at the workshop. You can pay in cash at the library or email for Venmo option. 
REGISTRATION FOR OUR WORKSHOP AND KITS WILL CLOSE ON OCTOBER 8TH. We cannot accommodate randomwalk-ins on OCTOBER 11.
