Kredde & Taitum
Kredde & Taitum is—unsurprisingly—a duo consisting of guitarist/composer Jeroen Kimman and
animator/VJ Sjeng Schupp. Together, they create a unique universe, live at the dinner table.
In an alchemy of image and sound, emotion, kitsch, and a passion for experimentation merge
into a virtuoso amalgam, with ample room for improvisation and a certain makeshift
approach from a bygone era.
Papi Gaba (Bart van Eijden)
Papi Gaba conducts his ensemble of test and measurement equipment. These devices, developed in the 1950s and 1960s for scientific purposes, were the source of the first
electronic music. Papi Gaba explores the sonic possibilities within the narrow
confinements
of his analog ensemble, which includes oscillators, frequency generators,
sweep generators, and pulse generators.
Red Brut
Red Brut is the project of the Netherlands-based tape composer and poet Marijn Verbiesen. Her latest album, On Bare Ground (2024)—conceived during a move from Rotterdam to the northernmost reaches of the Dutch marshes—strips away the musical language she developed on her two previous albums. What remains in this Zen disassembly of sonic instruments are fragments of recordings, zooming in on subtle yet vibrant moments of sonic potential: a distant voice sings, a piano warbles, an alien sound transforms into a rhythm. These texturally rich, warm, and collage-like recordings reach the ear like revealing secrets. The use of a hydrophone lends a subterranean and aquatic quality to some of Red Brut's droning assemblages—sometimes sounding like lost whale song, and sometimes like a tsunami of gushing noise. Live, she combines field recordings and cassette manipulation with spoken word and noise. (Rewire)
Acte Vide (GR)
Acte Vide is the duo project of Ioannis Kotsonis and Danae Stefanou. Active as an experimental and improvisational group since 2006, they have created numerous performances and installations at international festivals and in DIY contexts. They have composed live soundtracks and original sound designs for diverse films, from early classics such as Battleship Potemkin (Goethe Institut Athens, 2016) to contemporary experimental short films such as Itys, Praxithea, and Me (directed by Prokne, 2022). Their collaborative activities encompass a broader range of artistic research and critical practice, designing and realizing original curatorial and educational projects, such as the sound improvisation workshops of the Knot Gallery (Athens, 2009-2014) and the residencies and workshops of Sound Meetings (Syros and elsewhere, 2012-present).
