Welcome to a special and inspiring workshop to learn throat singing combined with exercises to free your voice and go to a more intuitive self-expression. Vishesh Kalinero are traveling in Asia and Europa giving conserts and courses in traditional music (se more about Vishesh bellow). We are happy to get him to the Circles of Sound Ecofarm, Hønefoss, one hour driving from Oslo.
Part 1 (1,5 hour): Vokal warmups and exploring our vocal chambers. Using physical and vocal techniques that are already present in a wide range of musical forms, the part of the workshop will engage the body and the mind to listen deeply, and work as one. The purpose is to try and break the idea of an ‘ideal’ singing voice, and guide us towards accessing intuitive self-expression.
Part 2 (4 hours): Learn Throat Singing. This amazing singing technique was popularised by the Tuva people in Siberia and Mongolia, mostly practiced by men in the olden times is now being done by women too. It is also practised in Tibet by Monks, and by women in the Inuit culture. In this session, we’ll explore all these different styles by pushing, puling, contracting as well as expanding the vocal cords to access this throat singing voice.

About the teacher:
Vishesh Kalimero is a musician and educator from Delhi, based in Goa, India
He has travelled extensively in Asia and Europe collecting sounds, instruments, performing concerts and facilitating workshops at music festivals, culture centres, art houses and meditation centres,
He attempts to reimagine traditional music in a modern context and his work is inspired by how an ecosystem shapes the sound of a region. How our environment inspires us musically. In that way he journeys through time, landscapes, philosophies, learning and experimenting with music.
About Circles of Sound Ecofarm: Circles of Sound Ecofarm is run by the music duo Circles of Sound giving meditative and world music consert. The farm is from 1848, cosy and surrounded by nature. The farm has Norways biggest yurt, a beautiful «temple» with dome and big windows where nature becomes present in the circular holly space. The farm is based on the principles of permaculture and organic farming.
