A WALL CREEPING című csoportos kiállításon a bécsi Képzőművészeti Akadémia (Yannick Booth, Clemens Grömmer, Juan Malte Haussen, Enrico Pacella, Ivan Penčev, Lisa Pirker, Karolina Svård, Julia Szczerbowska) festőosztályainak hallgatói, valamint a pozsonyi Képzőművészeti és Formatervező Akadémia mal+by festőstúdiójának hallgatói és végzett művészei (Anna Mária Beňová, Martina Červenková, Tereza Darášová, Miroslav Klimek, Taya Kolesnyk, Martin Mikláš, Linda Olejárová, Jaromír Šplíchal) vesznek részt.
A kiállítás az egyes műhelyek saját programjaiból kiindulva közös tematikus metszéspontokat keres, de fókuszában elsősorban az érzéki gondolkodás fejlesztése és az autonóm művészi kifejezés áll. Az absztrakció és figuráció ikonográfiája, a metafizika vagy misztika kortárs festészeti stratégiákban betöltött szerepe, és mindenekelőtt a festészet és rajz természetéről folytatott közös párbeszéd hangsúlyozza a festés folyamatának jelentőségét – amely a gondolkodás és a fizikai munka egységében bontakozik ki.
A kiállítás egy közösen készített művet is bemutat, amely az installálás során születik meg: közös tervezés nyomán, az egyik legösszetettebb és legidőigényesebb festészeti technikával, buon fresco-val készül. Mivel a freskófestés nedves vakolatra, különböző fázisokon át történő rétegzésre épül, e technika sürgető természetéből adódó feszültség éppen a lényeges mozzanatokat emelheti ki – a festmény testben és időben megélt pillanatát.
A kiállítás címéről
A WALL CREEPING – amely egy szinte kizárólag festészeti pozíciókat bemutató, tematikailag sokrétű kiállítás – nevét a különleges és ritkán megfigyelhető madár, a Tichodroma muraria (magyarul: hajnalmadár) inspirálta. A „Tichodromidae” család egyetlen képviselőjének neve az ógörögből származik, jelentése: „falon futó”. A madár sziklák és falak repedéseiben történő mozgása, illetve a megfigyeléséhez szükséges türelem, metaforikusan a festészet „megfelelő pillanatának” kivárásához, valamint a kép performatív természetéhez kapcsolódik. A váratlan helyeken felbukkanó képiség gondolata a festészeti megjelenítések dimenzionalitásának vizsgálatává válik – vizuálisan és tapintás útján is –, olykor szinte ténylegesen „megmászva” a képeket, végigkutatva a falakat, képek után kutatva.
Freskótechnika
A buon fresco a vakolat megszáradása előtt történő festést jelenti, ahol a pigment és a vakolat kémiai úton kötődik össze – így a kép a fal szerves, elválaszthatatlan részévé válik.

Wall Creeping* is a collective exhibition featuring painting students from various art studios at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (Yannick Booth, Clemens Grömmer, Juan Malte Haussen, Enrico Pacella, Ivan Penčev, Lisa Pirker, Karolina Svård, Julia Szczerbowska)
and students and graduates from the Ateliér mal+by (Studio of Painting) at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (Anna Mária Beňová, Martina Červenková, Tereza Darášová, Miroslav Klimek, Taya Kolesnyk, Martin Mikláš, Linda Olejárová, Jaromír Šplíchal).
In addition to shared themes defined and distinguished by the programs of individual studios, the exhibition primarily focuses on an active engagement with the development of perceptive thinking skills and independent artistic expression.
Joint discussions on the iconography of abstraction, figuration, metaphysics, or mysticism in current artistic strategies, and above all on the very nature of painting and drawing, highlight the significance of the painting process itself, which reveals itself through thought and physical effort.
The exhibition will feature an examination of the temporal dimension of painting through collaborative work — a piece produced collaboratively during the exhibition’s installation, based on joint proposals and executed in one of the most demanding painting methods — buon fresco. Since fresco painting** involves working with plaster through various application stages, painting with this previously described state of urgency inherent to the technique can allow what is essential to easily emerge as most important.
*The title of an exhibition, which features varied themes and almost exclusively painterly approaches, was inspired by the elusive and rare bird, the Wallcreeper (Tichodroma muraria).
The only representative of its family, the “Tichodromidae,” owes its name to ancient Greeks, meaning literally "which runs on the walls”.
The exceptional patience needed to spot the bird and its particular movement along wall and rock crevices, is metaphorically tied to the anticipation of the right moment (of painting) and to the performativity of the image.
The idea of the appearance of imagery in unexpected places becomes a matter of exploring the dimensionality of painterly presentations, both visually and through touch, often quite literally physically “climbing” the paintings and visually scaling the walls in search of images.
