- **Event Description**: This will be an engaging 2-hour workshop led by a local Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist, endeavoring to educate
and empower students with a foundation of knowledge and awareness of the pelvic bowl. 

We will explore the
pelvic floor’s anatomy - including bones, muscles, organs, and connective tissues - and functional roles -
including with continence, sexual function, organ support, pain perception, hip stability, pregnancy, and
childbirth, to name a few. We will review pelvic floor hygiene and how the pelvic floor profoundly intersects
and interacts with several of the body’s life-sustaining systems including of course the musculoskeletal and also
the respiratory, circulatory/lymphatic, nervous, digestive/GI, urinary, and endocrine systems. 

Not only will you
begin to understand how and why dysfunction can develop in the pelvic floor system, but you will also learn
practices and approaches to prevent some of the prevailing pathologies people experience. And for when
prevention simply isn’t enough, you’ll learn about options for further treatment, care, and support; especially,
the crucial importance of pelvic rehabilitation providers, who can be MD’s, DO’s, PT’s, OT’s, midwives, and
other body workers.

This workshop will blend lecture with guided practice, featuring light, gentle movement flows and positions
with which to apply the knowledge shared. 

No previous experience necessary or required. 

It will enhance your
movement repertoire with practical techniques to support your pelvic health daily, and if nothing else, you will
connect with others who share similar interests in wellness and body awareness.

This event is open to anyone with a pelvis! Whether you are another health professional, a fitness enthusiast, or
simply curious about pelvic health, this workshop will equip you with valuable knowledge and actionable skills
to apply in your life everyday.

About Me: I am a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist living in Ocean Springs, MS, with my beautiful family - my
husband, our 5-year-old daughter, and our 10-year-old (maybe? he’s a rescue) dog. I currently practice part-time
in an outpatient-hospital based setting as well as concierge, where I provide visits to clients in their own homes.
I also have access to limited office hours if the individual’s home setting is not preferred. Additionally, I am
pursuing continued education in well-woman care including pre-conception, pregnancy, childbirth, and
postpartum under the midwifery model of care as well as attending home births and assisting as needed and
able. I seek knowledge and training that honors the biopsychosocial-spiritual approach to medical care; which is
to say, understands how the realms of biology (what’s physical, tangible, measurable), psychology (mental and
emotional), sociology (relationships and community), and spirituality (ritual and sacredness, identity and belief
systems) overlap to support (or not) the individual. And if credentials/details matter; I received a Bachelor’s of
Science degree in Biological Sciences from Mississippi State University in 2010 and Doctorate in Physical
Therapy from Belmont University in Nashville, TN, in 2013. I earned a certification in Pregnancy and
Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialty in 2021 and birthed my business, Becoming Whole Physical Therapy
and Pelvic Care, in 2023. Brevity is not my strongest suite.
