Sir Matthew achieved many great things, most notably becoming the Mayor of Bradford and being the leading advocate in the construction of the Forth Bridge. As a final and most generous gesture, St Matthew gave the deeds for the building to the town council stating that it was “for the use of the inhabitants of Guiseley forever”.​Since then, the Theatre has seen many different faces; from Town Hall, to Cinema, and Hospital to Fire Station, before being taken over by Guiseley Amateur Operatic Society in 1985, and renamed 'Guiseley Theatre'.Guiseley Theatre is located in the home town of one of our Owners who grew up in Guiseley and has heard many stories of people encountering paranormal activity within the building.
