- **Event Description**: S-219, Firing Operations hosted by Western States Wildland Fire Academy at Wyoming Camp GuernseyAbout this EventThis is a BLENDED course that combines an online training (OLT) component and an instructor-led training (ILT) component.The course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of a Firing Boss, Single Resource (FIRB) position, as described in the  PMS-350-105.ObjectivesBy the end of this course students will be able to:Identify the responsibilities of the Firing Boss, Single Resource (FIRB) for planning, implementing, and evaluating a firing operation on a wildland or prescribed fire.Given a wildland or prescribed fire scenario, choose the proper components of a Firing Plan to meet specific objectives.Implement a Firing Plan, adjusting as needed based on changing conditions.Determine the unique considerations for managing higher complexity firing operationsOnline Training (OLT) ComponentThe online component of the course will have students explore the knowledge and concepts required to meet the responsibilities of a FIRB identified in the PMS 350-105. Students are required to complete the OLT prior to taking the ILT. The OLT portion should take about 5 hours to complete.Memo of Completion and Certificate Once you have completed all the required activities in the online training, your memo of completion will be automatically sent to the email associated with your WFLP user profile. The Memo is proof of your successful completion of the online component and must be provided to the instructor prior to the instructor-led component of the course.A NWCG Certificate of Course Completion will be issued by the lead instructor after the student has successful completed both the online and instructor-led components of the course.How to enroll in the online training (OLT) component Students will need:Computer/tablet with internetAn account with the Wildland Fire Learning PortalLINK TO ONLINE TRAINING (OLT) COMPONENT
