Each unit focuses on a performance-based activity in which students practice applying their decision-making and problem-solving skills which allow students to apply the knowledge and concepts required to meet the responsibilities of a Firefighter Type 1 (Squad Boss) (FFT1) and an Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) as identified in the PMS 350-14 and PMS 350-116.By the end of this course students will be able to:Demonstrate decision making across changing situations.Manage an Initial Attack (IA), including completing a sizeup and determining appropriate actions.Provide a briefing to assigned personnel.Establish effective communication and coordination with aerial resources.Demonstrate the responsibilities of an FFT1/ICT5 during a medical emergency.Determine the appropriate structure protection using the structure triage outlined in the , PMS 461.
