Join Yeye Luisah Teish and the community for a magical weekend honoring the Water Spirits through storytelling, altar building, ritual, and ancestral teachings inspired by the rich traditions of the African diaspora. This multi-day gathering invites you to cleanse, renew, and welcome the arrival of Winter with intention and sacred practice.

Friday, Dec. 19th | 6:30 PM–8:00 PM PST

Opening the Seashellabration

We begin our festival by building an altar for the Water Spirits and learning songs of praise that will carry us through the weekend. A warm and welcoming evening to open the way for spiritual connection and community energy.

Saturday, Dec. 20th | 10:00 AM–2:00 PM PST — The Waterways Workshop [MORNING/A]

Yeye Teish leads a deep and engaging discussion on Winter Solstice traditions from around the world, with a focus on the African diaspora—from West Africa to Brazil, Haiti, and the U.S. South. Explore the sacred roles of Yemaya, Olokun, Mami Wata, and other water deities in global celebrations of spirit and season.

Saturday, Dec. 20th | 7:00 PM–8:30 PM PST — The Day Her Belly Burst [B/Evening]

A magical evening of storytelling where participants meet Beings from the watery realms of Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond.

You are invited to wear costumes or sacred regalia that reflect your relationship to the water element. Bring a small instrument and your child-like imagination for this enchanting mythic journey.

Sunday, Dec. 21st | 1:00 PM–4:00 PM PST

An Awán for Olokun

This cleansing ritual is designed to release unwanted energies from the outgoing year and guide participants into the quiet, protected, and reflective energy of Winter. Enter the new season renewed, grounded, and spiritually aligned.
