About Sheila Torres: Proud Pepino native, proud Puerto Rican. Lover of my culture and what distinguishes us as a people. I am passionate about words, especially those that make up my vernacular: Spanish. This has led me to co-found the blog Dialecto Boricua, a space where the way we Puerto Ricans communicate is highlighted and explained. I wanted to turn my passion into my profession, so I earned a bachelor's degree in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations, Advertising, and Journalism from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. I also hold a master's degree in Media Writing from the University of the Sacred Heart. I have spent over a decade researching and publishing about the Puerto Rican dialect, sharing this information on social media, in talks, and on radio and television.
