"I am deeply rooted in the arts of Detroit.  My great grandfather worked as a master plasterer on the Fox Theater; he worked on the beautiful ornate architectural elements.  In addition, my father was a Cass Corridor artist. One profound influence that I recall is when I was about 10 years old, my older brother took me to the Detroit Institute of Arts. I was drawn to the sculptures more than anything else.  Everything seemed larger than life, it was over whelming.  I was profoundly moved and influenced by that single trip to the museum."

Tim Burke created the larger-than-life whimsical, "crazy cat" and robot sculptures you've probably spotted across the Village recently. He'll explain that he used an assortment of interesting materials, which include F-18 fighter jet parts, Patriot missile drive gears, reclaimed metal and tiles from the past demolitions of historical Detroit landmarks, among many others.
