- **Event Name**: Lines That Last: An Engraving Workshop with Suki Liu
- **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 17 Sep, 2026 at 06:30 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: In this two-hour beginner-friendly engraving class, we will discuss the basics of rotary engraving on glass surfaces by local engraver Suki Liu. We will go over a brief introduction, discuss the different types of engraving available, troubleshoot various surfaces, and some do’s and don’ts of engraving. Students will practice with rotary tools provided by the instructor for in-class use as well as other basic tools needed, learn about basic strokes, safety precautions, and how to finish your piece with a metallic finish, as well as some tips and tricks along the way to help students engrave their very own piece.

This class will include 1 item for you to engrave and take home as a keepsake, as well as a guide book on the class curriculum. Although the drills are for in-class use only, students will be able to purchase their own “complete engraving kit” for an additional cost at the end of the class if they choose, this is completely optional.

This class is perfect for anyone looking for a unique way to level up their gifting, as personalized engraving takes gifting to the next level, providing a deep and personal sentiment to your next present.

About The Instructor

Suki Liu is a calligraphy and hand engraving artist based in the greater Metro Detroit area, and is the owner of Signed By Suki, where she builds connection through artistry through the art of personalization. Suki started teaching workshops in 2021 and has instructed over 3,000 students during her 4 years of teaching. She has also learned under multiple chief calligraphers of the White House, has traveled to multiple states as a live engraving artist, and has been seen live engraving the name of the 2025 Rocket Classic winner on the trophy live on network television. When she’s not creating certificates commissioned by Michigan State University, or live-engraving inside the Little Caesars Arena suite for the Detroit Pistons, she is probably hanging out with her dog Udon, or enjoying attending an event or a Happy Hour with her friends.
