What is Summer Camp?

Camp is an opportunity for Girl Scout troops and Juliette's to come together and share a weekend of sisterhood, camp activities, and relax in the outdoors with our fellow service unit.

2 night option only will be available. Those troops that only want to stay one night will still pay for the 2 night option, as they will still benefit from the overnight. The space will be theirs regardless of how long they stay.

*This is not a drop-off program. Troops must attend with Troop Leaders/approved volunteers. Juliette's may register with a GS member, background checked parent/guardian.*

Activities

Each troop will be getting a badge in a box kit. All overnight campers will be earning their levels camper badge during their stay at camp. The first steps require you to do before you camp. We can help you plan those prior to camp as needed. The badge kits will give troops the opportunity to do their badge work during open activity times. All supplies will be provided except for the actual badge. This is a great way to have your troop earn some outdoor badges while at camp. We will also be providing structured activities throughout the day in areas around the camp for you to participate in:

Archery and/or Small Craft (canoes/kayaks)

Knots

Crafts

Games

and more

Swaps

We encourage each troop to bring a SWAPS to be passed out to each other at the closing of the day Saturday. SWAPS are a small tokens of friendship that Girl Scouts exchange with one another. they reflect a memory of a special event. SWAPS stands for "Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere" there are many great ideas on Pinterest to get you inspired. it is a great activity for your girls to complete prior to camp. Or you can work on them at camp, if time allows.

Who can attend?

*This is not a drop-off program. Troops must attend with Troop Leaders/approved volunteers. Juliette's may register with a GS member, background checked parent/guardian.*

Girl Scout troops and Juliette's of all ages are invited to attend. This is a Troop Camp not a family camp. Please keep ratios in mind, as extra adults could be taking away bed spaces that a girl cant use. If more than ratio are registered we may have to move the "extra" adults to a different space for over night. Extra adults may register for Saturday only day camp, But must come only for day camp hours. One volunteer must have their troop camp skills class completed. OWLS will have this training in May if you need it for your troop. This is a one time class. You must also have a volunteer CPR/First Aid certified person with your group. This training will also be available at OWLS or you can check the GSMISTS calendar for more dates. Day option will enforce the same ratio depending on level.

Adult-to-Girl Ratios for Outings, Activities, Camping and Travel
The adult-to-girl ratio for outings, activities, camping, and travel means a minimum of two registered, approved, adult volunteers who are unrelated, including one female, must be present for up to this number of girls:
• 6 Girl Scout Daisies
• 12 Girl Scout Brownies
• 16 Girl Scout Juniors
• 20 Girl Scout Cadettes
• 24 Girl Scout Seniors
• 24 Girl Scout Ambassadors
With one extra registered, approved, adult volunteer for every additional:
• 1–4 Girl Scout Daisies
• 1–6 Girl Scout Brownies
• 1–8 Girl Scout Juniors
• 1–10 Girl Scout Cadettes
• 1–12 Girl Scout Seniors
• 1–12 Girl Scout Ambassadors

Where do we camp?

Registrants are responsible for selecting their cabin(s) when signing up for Camp. All cabins are first come, first serve. Please keep in mind some cabins are more rustic than others, and may not be suitable for first-time campers or younger Girl Scouts. Small troops occupying 50% or less of the cabin may opt to share their cabin with another troop. Please register your troop all at once and not individually or you will run the chance of one of your members being added to another space away from your troop.

What is provided at Camp?

Attending troops will have the opportunity to earn their levels camp badge and other outdoor badges while at camp. We will help your troop plan badgework and/or supply a badge in a box so you are able to complete the steps. Badges for the kits will not be provided. We will also have activities around the camp for troops to attend ie archery, swaps, crafts, games if we have the volunteers to help run activities, if your troop would like to help run a station, please email us at gsmistsowlskor@gmail.com . Once we know who has certifications and who is coming to camp we will make a schedule.

We will be providing Meals and snacks. Refrigeration will be available at camp. Troops must have a camp trained adult, and a First Aider. Coffee and Water will be available all weekend at the Lodge.
