Top Dog is proud to be offering the Therapy Dog Preparation School at our new location at the Westmoreland Mall!!
To join this elite school you must first have a temperament and obedience evaluation done by qualified Top Dog Therapy Trainer. These evaluations are $35 and will be done at the Westmoreland Mall Top Dog therapy training center.
This School will be seven weeks long and will work on the following:
1. Explaining the job of a therapy dog and the facilities that they work.
2. Grooming and appearance- Uniform and team minimums
3. Therapy Dog Vest/Gear - working mode
4. Accepting a strangers touch
5. Working in close/tight quarters with other dogs without reactions
6. Responsiveness
7. Medical Device Exposure
8. Loud noise exposure
9. Leave it with hazardous/dangerous items
10. Entering/exiting a room properly
11. Facility Group Registration & Sign in
12. Therpay Dog visits
13. What it means to be a volunteer and drive our mission.
This school will give your pup all the basics they need to move on to the next level to our Therapy Dog Program so they can begin to apply all this training at schools and medical facilities when they reopen to us.
This course is seven week long and one hour in duration. This course is $245 per pup for the seven weeks. This is the 1st phase of therapy dog training that your dog will go through.
Prerequisites for Therapy Dog preparation score;
1. Advance Level one certification
2. Temperament Test
3. Invite from Top Dog Trainer
Classes are non refundable and not to be gifted or used for other classes.
Humans- this class is intended for adult adults 18 or older. All adults will need to have clean background checks for the following three backgrounds:
1. PATCH- PA STATE BACKGROUND CHECKS
2. FBI, digital fingerprints.
3. Child line clearances.
We are located inside of the Westmoreland mall on the second floor on the Casino side.
Our space number is 276. We are directly next to the armed force center.
If you find a way to the elevator, come upstairs go straight you will find us or if you’re on the first level head towards the casino there are steps on the right hand side that will bring you right up to us.
Please do not forget to bring POOP bags in case your dog has an emergency to or from our store.
We ask everybody to please make sure their dogs are fully bathroom or leave before coming into the mall.
Parking:
Please park between the old Sears and the casino. There are white Maintenance stores to come through with the dogs.
