An eco friendly and sensory friendly potluck celebrating community and our interconnectedness. With the hope and call toward what our country can be, you are invited to join neighbors for a casual gathering at Three Meadows Park for a potluck meal (or your own picnic), live music, art, and an effort to provide community aid. We hope you will join us in striving to be eco friendly: - If able, BYO plates, cups/water bottles, cloth napkins, and lawn chairs Compostable plates, cups, forks, and napkins will also be available - Transport food in reusable containers - Walk, bike, or carpool to the event - Help us clean up and pack out trash and compost scraps - Invite others using word of mouth and electronic communication And sensory friendly: - Label potluck foods to communicate ingredients - Please do not bring fireworks or sparklers - If bringing a pet, please keep pets leashed and distanced from neighbors until/unless invited near Feel free to bring family friendly lawn games and your own instruments to jam with musicians. Bring school supplies and/or diapers to donate to BackPack Beginnings. Rhiannon McGee is the Office Manager at BackPack Beginnings (and a Three Meadows resident!) and she let us know that their most needed items are school supplies and diapers of any size. Our Interdependence Days gathering is hosted by Salvage Garden and Your Neighbors Kathryn White, Melanie Livers, Danie & Melissa Jones, and Melissa Guthrie. Salvage Garden is a Greensboro, NC-based noonprofit dedicated to reclaiming the value of every body. Social movements start with our own bodies. Our disabled bodies, queer bodies, black and brown bodies, and, and, and… The ways we engage with others are so much about the body. Salvage Garden believes in the inherent worth and beauty of all people. Salvage Garden centers individuals with disabilities and was founded in 2012 by Melissa Guthrie who lives in Three Meadows. Bring a neighbor, be a neighbor. Bring a food to share or bring your own picnic meal to meet your needs. Stay a few minutes, stay awhile. Local musician Danie "Hope" Jones will provide music and welcomes others to jam or share their music. Any weather related updates or changes will be posted in the event comments. We are grateful for a mini grant of $50 from America250 - Guilford County to help provide supplies for our gathering. We are grateful that America250 - Guilford County supports our unique way of celebrating history and naming and addressing the tension and discord many of us feel in these times in our country.
