We’re thrilled to announce auditions for our upcoming production of the beloved musical The Fantasticks — and we’d love to see you there!
This enchanting, funny, and heartfelt show celebrates love, imagination, and the beauty of storytelling. With its memorable music and timeless characters, The Fantasticks offers wonderful opportunities for performers of all experience levels to shine.
Auditions are open, and we warmly encourage anyone who’s ever thought, “Maybe I should audition…” to take the leap. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or brand new to the stage, this is a fantastic (yes, really!) chance to be part of something special.
Audition Dates: March 2nd and 4th
Location: Congregational United Church of Christ, 400 W. Radiance Dr. Use the lower side entrance across from the parking lot.
What to Prepare: 32 bars from a Golden Age Classic Musical in your key.
Come play, explore, and help bring this imaginative world to life. At the very least, you’ll leave having tried something new — and at best, you’ll be part of a truly magical production. Performance dates are the two weekends, May 8th through 17th.
We can’t wait to see who walks through the door.
Characters:
The Narrator (El Gallo) - A rakish, handsome, sophisticated gallant and narrator of the show. He is warm, cordial, and inviting to the audience, but has his own darker moments. He aids the performers inorchestrating the story.
Gender: Male / Age: 30 to 50
The Girl (Luisa) - She is a romantic idealist who falls in love with Matt. She is naive, yet honest and tender.
Gender: Female / Age: 15 to 25
The Boy (Matt) - An innocent, young man who is searching for love and adventure. A bright guy, but naive and even foolish at times, approaching situations with a false bravado.
Gender: Male / Age: 18 to 25
The Boy's Father (Hucklebee) - A meticulous gardener who fakes a fight with Bellomy in hopes of getting their children to fall in love.
Gender: Male / Age: 40 to 60
The Girl's Father (Bellomy) - A picky gardener who fakes a fight with Hucklebee in hopes of getting their children together.
Gender: Male / Age: 40 to 60
The Actor (Henry) - An aging, over-the-top Thespian who specializes in reciting Shakespeare, he is a commedia clown; his world is the stage and he knows no other reality.
Gender: Male / Age: 50 to 70
The Man Who Dies (Mortimer) - Henry's goofy sidekick and another former actor who specializes in stage deaths. A commedia clown, his world is the stage and he does not live in reality.
Gender: Male / Age: 20 to 50
The Mute (or Mutes) - A speechless presence who watches, acts as the wall, and deals with props; the "invisible" stage assistant(s). Should be able to easily assist in the story or fade into the background unnoticed.
Gender: Any / Age: 20 to 50
