As the evening unfolds, Saturn and its rings will come into view - and if the air is clear and dry, we may even spot its moons Titan, Rhea, and perhaps Dione and Iapetus.As the skies darken, the telescopes will turn toward the season’s showpieces, including the Ring Nebula and Dumbbell Nebula, the great Hercules Cluster, and the Andromeda and Whirlpool galaxies. The light reaching us from Andromeda began its journey approximately 2.5 million years ago. The blue-and-gold double star Albireo and Epsilon Lyrae, famously known as the “Double Double,” may also come into view.Complimentary hibiscus iced tea, cosmic brownie bites, and blankets will be available as you take in the sky above.Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for children, with all proceeds directly supporting Custer Observatory and its mission to bring astronomy to the community.Turn the experience into a full evening by pairing stargazing with dinner at Eddie’s before the program - the perfect way to spend a night under the stars.
