This Class Meets at:
4th Street Parking Lot, 4th St., Irwin, Pa 15642
What to Expect:
Does your dog need help in any of the following areas:
•Being around Traffic and Crowds in a city
•Being around Noise and Smells in a town
•Being around Strangers
•Being around Unfamiliar Dogs
•Improving Confidence in New Environments
If the answer is YES, come join our Walking/Socialization Class in downtown Irwin and learn the skills to navigate and handle the stressfull, tense and unfamiliar environment of the city streets.
This process uses a positive approach to help puppies and dogs build confidence around common city stimuli, like traffic, construction and crowds.
Our goal is to help dogs of all ages become comfortable, confident and calm in a bustling downtown setting. The curriculum focuses on positive exposure and desensitization to urban sights and sounds.
While maintaining a safe distance, we acclimate the dogs to the sights and sounds of public transportation. We observe buses, cars, ect arriving and departing. The group will reward calm behavior and gradually reduce the distance as the dog shows comfort.
We will navigate the bustling sidewalks, crosswalks, and the pet-friendly stores, giving your dog a practical real-world experience.
This program systematically increases the intensity of the stimuli to prevent the dogs from becoming overwhelmed.
Dogs and owners will navigate the environment with real-world distractions leading to a more comfortable, confident, well-balanced relationship.
