- **Event Description**: On Saturday August 29th, our 5th Saturday Contra Series Double Dance will offer an afternoon of Square dancing and an evening of Contras featuring music from Dave Langford and Max Newman and calling by Ben Sachs-Hamilton!

The afternoon session will focus on squares called by Ben, including many classic singing squares.  Then after a dinner break, Ben will lead the beginners contra workshop followed by an evening of contra dancing.  

Ben Sachs-Hamilton started contra dancing at 12 and started teaching dances at 15. Since then he has called and organized for dances across the northeast, with a focus on LGBTQ and gender-role-free dance communities. He fosters a welcoming and inclusive space for diverse groups of new and experienced dancers, adding tips on style and safety into his teaching. 

Dave Langford (Stomp Rocket, Latter Day Lizards) and Max Newman (Stringrays, Stove Dragon) are two of the best and busiest performers for contra dancing.  They will provide just the right musical blend of tunes to back up Ben's singing squares, regular squares, and contra dances.

4:00 - 6:30 PM Square Dancing
6:30 - 7:30 dinner break - bring a picnic to eat downstairs
7:30 PM Contra workshop for new dancers
8:00-11:00 Contras

Admission: Square session only: $15-$20 sliding scale
Contra session only: $15-$20 sliding scale
Combined Admission: $25-$35 sliding scale
