- **Event Description**: The Sweetwater County Museum Foundation is kicking off its 2026 Highway to History field trip series with Dinosaur Destinations on April 11th. The Foundation is sponsoring an all-day bus trip to the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum and on to Dinosaur National Monument.

The Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum in Vernal, Utah, houses an extensive collection of geological, paleontological and anthropological specimens found near the Uinta Mountains and within the Uinta Basin. The museum contains a rotunda, three exhibit halls, a classroom, a theater, and an outdoor garden. In the theater, visitors will learn about the excavation of these specimens, then walk through time among fossils throughout the museum.

Encompassing 210,000 acres in Uintah County, Utah, and Moffat County, Colorado, Dinosaur National Monument contains over 800 paleontological sites with fossils including Allosaurus, Deinonychus, Abydosaurus and various sauropods. It also contains petroglyphs, pictographs and archaeological sites from the prehistoric Fremont culture. The tour will visit the Quarry Exhibit Hall, a wall of 1,500 dinosaur bones, and experience the Quarry Visitor Center.

The bus will leave the Sweetwater County Historical Museum, 3 East Flaming Gorge Way, Green River, at 7 AM and return at 5 PM. A picnic lunch will be provided, plus a commemorative patch. Ticket prices are Adult/$75, Youth under 18/$35, Family/$175, and may be purchased at the museum or online at sweetwatermuseum.org/explore/events/dino-destinations
