As a longtime supporter of environmental education and conservation, Juanita is excited to teach at Chattanooga Audubon because she believes that hands-on learning and curiosity are powerful tools for inspiring stewardship. Through her classes, she hopes to help participants discover the fascinating stories found in nature while gaining a deeper appreciation for the ecosystems, wildlife, and natural spaces that make our region unique.

Lost Landscapes: What Chattanooga Looked Like Before We Got Here

Travel through thousands of years of Chattanooga's environmental history and discover how the region's forests, rivers, wildlife, and people have shaped the landscape we know today. Through maps, artifacts, hands-on activities, and environmental detective work, students will explore how natural and human forces have transformed the Tennessee Valley from ancient ecosystems to modern communities. This interactive class combines history, ecology, geography, and conservation to help students better understand the connection between people and place.
