He’s heard tell of an intriguing new created by the Chadwell Community and is seeking families who know the village to help him explore it as he seeks inspiration for his writing.This immersive experience is a family-focused walking tour, which will journey around Chadwell and interact with the new art installations created by the community and artist Lucy McDonald. Families will also help Daniel Defoe create a new book which captures the spirit of Chadwell in 2026 as he prepares to travel back to his own time.The tours will begin at either Emmanuel Church or The Pyramid Centre, depending on the tour's start time, please check this carefully before booking.9:15am: The Pyramid Centre11:15am: Emmanuel Church1:45pm: The Pyramid Centre3:45pm: Emmanuel ChurchThe tour ends at Chadwell Village Hall, where Daniel Defoe will celebrate each group's contributions, and there are toilets and self-service refreshments available. All tours will be accompanied by 3 guides, including Daniel Defoe!Duration: approximately 90 minutes including around 45 minutes walking at a gentle pace.Suitable forThis is a family-focused event, with theatrical content aimed at primary aged children but it can be enjoyed by all.All ages are welcomed, although please note the walking involved might be tiring for very small children. Buggies and carriers are welcome. Please note there are no baby changing facilities at the Village Hall.Please note: this is an outdoor event, so remember to come dressed for the temperature and weather with suitable footwear for walking outdoorsAccessibilityOur step-free routes are accessible to wheelchair users, and are mostly on pedestrian pavements; some routes pass through parks with green areas of mown grass and along designated paths.Please note that there is some uneven terrain, for example cracked paving and tree roots. In some areas with uneven pavements road safety stewards will be at the front and rear of the group for walking on quiet residential roads.There is no seating on the 45 minute route and no planned stop at a seating point until we return to the Village Hall where chairs will be available. Chadwell Village Hall has accessible toilet facilities.If you are concerned about the walking element of this event or have any access needs, please contact us before booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.Getting ThereAs this is a walking tour we encourage you to arrive on foot or take public transport where possible. Alternatively both starting locations have car parks where participants can be dropped off, collection will be required from Chadwell Village Hall. For those arriving by car we encourage you to park at the end of the route (Chadwell Village Hall) and walk or take public transport to the starting location.
