Description

Led by artist Linda Kane, Lavender Expressions in Gelli Plate Printing is a hands-on botanical printmaking workshop that introduces participants to the playful, expressive process of Gelli plate printing. Set within the natural surroundings of The Uncommon Ranch, guests will explore basic printmaking techniques using paint, paper, lavender stems and blossoms, botanicals gathered from the property, and even lavender soap bars carved into printing stamps.

This class is designed to be approachable, energetic, and process-focused, welcoming everyone from beginners to more experienced artists. Participants will move freely through color, texture, layering, composition, and design principles while creating a collection of one-of-a-kind botanical prints inspired by the fragrance, form, and natural beauty of lavender.

Guests can expect to create up to 10 finished prints, which may be used for greeting cards, invitations, scrapbooks, collage work, or framed art.

Experience Flow

The workshop will begin with a brief introduction to Gelli plate printing and a demonstration by Linda. She will demonstrate two core skills: how to use the Gelli plate and how to carve a lavender soap bar into a stamp.

After the introduction and demo, participants will spend most of the class exploring materials and processes hands-on. Guests will experiment with paints, lavender, botanicals, paper, and carved soap stamps to create layered prints.

Approximately 15 minutes before the end of class, the group will gather to share prints, reflect on the experience, and discuss the creative process. The class will conclude with a short wrap-up, Q&A, and optional evaluation forms.
