We’ll head to Lake 22 — one of Washington’s most well-loved trails. This 5.4-mile route with about 1,350 feet of elevation gain follows lush forest, boardwalks, streams, and rocky switchbacks before arriving at the alpine lake tucked beneath high stone walls. In early summer, lingering snowfields and rushing meltwater add to the scene.

Tenderfoot hikes here always carry a sense of shared wonder. The amphitheater-style basin invites a pause — a quiet breath, a snack, maybe a photo or two — and the lake reflects whatever the sky is doing: dramatic clouds or bright summer blue. The journey feels like a celebration of how far we’ve come together through the season — step by step, week by week.

Bring trekking poles if you like them, waterproof shoes, and a light jacket — the lake basin can be significantly cooler than the trailhead. Flexibility keeps us smiling, safe, and able to enjoy whatever the season allows.

We'll meet in the far north end of the north parking lot at the Green Lake Park and Ride, and directly under the I-5 freeway at 8 am. Since we are heading north, we can also stop off at the Ash Way Park and Ride at 8:30 am to either pick up additional riders or further coordinate rideshares. Rideshare for the day is $14 per person from the Green Lake Park and Ride and $10 per person from the Ash Way Park and Ride, and is paid to the driver of the vehicle.

Yes, there are two separate fees regarding this event. The event fee, and then a rideshare if you are riding as a passenger with a driver.

Sorry, no doggies are allowed at any Tenderfoot Adventures events as per our insurance policy. We all love our fur babies, and I am sure that yours is amazing as well, but alas, there are no doggies allowed at any of our events.
