About the event

Winter Lecture Series: The Fur Trade in Minnesota: From 1680 to 1900
Step into the past, during Minnesota’s fur trade era. Learn about the hardy French Canadian voyageurs who paddled vast waterways, the Native communities they partnered with, and the thriving trade that shaped our region’s history. Discover how their grit, sense of adventure, and significant cultural exchanges helped shape the Minnesota we know today. Through stories, artifacts, and vivid tales of life before Minnesota became a state, this program brings to life a time of commerce, cultural exchange, and courage.
