- **Event Description**: Join us for Chef Oscar Moreno's interpreted dinner of "The Taste of Sound" by musician Quincy DoengesAbout this EventJoin us for Chef Oscar's Dinner Series of 2025!The Taste of Sound will be a night of great food and drink; paired with and interpretting the work of Quincy Doengas.The Taste of Sound is a unique dining experience that collaborates a prix-fixe dinner from individual chefs, and newly commissioned music for the vibraphone. Audience members will experience how one form of art heightens the experience of another; the mixings of sound and flavor. A dinner and a show, all in one place! Composers Molly Monahan, Max Gibson, Dr. Brendan Sweeney, Dr. Brian Graiser, and Gray Campbell have curated incredible works that will accompany diverse courses from different chefs.Chef Oscar has prepared a delicious and unique 5-course Prehispanic menu inspired his interpretations of Quincy's & his colleuges work. In addition, the dinner will feature cocktail pairings inspired in the same fashion, in concert with Chef Oscar's creations.Quincy Doenges is an award-winning percussionist and educator who is currently basedin Houston, Texas. As an advocate for new music, Quincy strives to present and propelnew works for percussion through solo and collaborative projects. Fueled bycollaborations with a wide-array of diverse composers, Quincy actively aims to presenthis music to his local community members to curate unique experiences and diversesoundscapes. Most recently, Quincy was featured in an interview with Voyage Houston,where he talked about his previous experiences, mentors, and his upcoming projects,such as The Taste of Sound.Excellence in performance has always been a key importance for Quincy. In 2018,Quincy was the winner of the first annual Western University Winds, Brass, andPercussion Concerto Competition where he later performed with the University’s WindEnsemble conducted by Dr. Colleen Richardson. Quincy was also a finalist in theMaritsa Brooks Concerto Competition, as well as the London Music ScholarshipFoundation Competition at Western University. During his graduate studies, Quincy wasa finalist in the Sempre Pro Musica competition at Baylor University.A vital development in Quincy’s career was co-founding the Waveform Collective, whichcommissioned and premiered numerous new works for double bass and percussion.Alongside Max Winningham, the Collective presented one of their commissions,“Bloom” by Molly Monahan, at SPLICE Festival 5 at the Berklee School of Music in2023.Quincy holds a Master’s degree from Baylor University and a Bachelor’s in MusicEducation from Western University. Since 2023, Quincy has been teaching privately inthe North Houston Area with his studio of over 30 students, ranging from grades 5-12.
