Following a review of the extended weather forecast and expected summer heat conditions, RCDRL officials elected to move Saturday’s racing activities into the evening hours to provide a safer, more enjoyable, and more competitive environment for racers, crews, volunteers, and spectators. With daytime temperatures expected to reach the high 90s and heat index values potentially exceeding 100 degrees, league leadership believes the move to night racing is the best way to protect participants while delivering the premier racing experience competitors have come to expect from the U.S. Super Nationals. Why the Change? Extreme daytime temperatures create several challenges for racers and event staff, including: * Increased risk of heat exhaustion and heat-related illnesses. * Hot racing surfaces that require more frequent lane maintenance. * Less consistent track conditions throughout the day. * Additional strain on racers, families, and spectators. * Increased travel burdens for racers who traditionally must arrive earlier to avoid missing competition activities.
