Expect a full weekend of cold-weather fun inspired by Nordic grit, winter legends and Grand Lake’s own mountain town spirit. From icy competitions to festive gatherings, this is a celebration built for those who embrace winter head-on. 

2026 Winter Carnival Schedule

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Ice Sculpture Workshop with the Rocky Mountain Folk School in the Heckert Pavilion - register at https://rockymountainfolkschool.org
 
10:00 AM – 10:20 AM 
Snowmobile Parade down Grand Avenue 
 
10:45 AM – 11:45 AM
XMR Snowmobile Racing on Grand Ave - 
Registration will be at Rockies starting at 9AM but we encourage participants to preregister by contacting Sarah Weekes at sweekes@toglco.com or 970-531-4795
 
12:00 PM – 12:45 PM 
Bed Sled Races on Grand Ave, extra points awarded for best Viking costumes! Participants should plan to bring their own bed sled, decorated in the Viking theme. We will have two bed sleds available for use, but constructing and bringing a custom sled is highly encouraged. Contact Sarah at sweekes@toglco.com or 970-531-4795 to register teams. 
 
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM 
Town Park Activities - Snow Mini Golf, Axe Throwing (adult and kids versions), Lawn Darts, Corn Hole, Tea Pot Curling, Viking Duck Races, games and prizes, hosted by Colorado AeroLab
 
7:00 PM – 12:00 AM 
Winter Carnival Viking Ball at Rockies Restaurant - don’t forget to dress to impress for the Viking theme! Live music by Float Like A Buffalo starting at 7pm.
