CWB will open their Nutcracker Auditions up to children ages 6 & older who have previous ballet experience and are currently enrolled in a ballet class. Looking for boys ages 8 & up regardless of dance experience for the party scene (acting and basic movement). 

There will be 9 performances presented at CMU’s Asteria Theatre; 12/11 at 7p, 12/12 2 & 7p, 12/13 1:30p; and 12/17 7p, 12/18 7p, 12/19 2 & 7p, 12/20 1:30p (Possibility to add shows if demands are foreseen). Children’s Cast will be divided into up to three casts with each cast performing 3 performances (some parts may be just split cast (2 casts) with up to five performances).

Cast A: 12/11 7p, 12/12 7p, 12/13 1:30p

Cast B: 12/12 2p, 12/17 7p, 12/19 2p

Cast C: 12/18 7p, 12/19 7p, 12/ 20 1:30p

For older/ advanced roles with only 2 casts as well as party scene roles: 

Cast D (All Cast A shows plus 12/12 2p) 

Cast E (All Cast C shows plus 12/17 7p and 12/19 2p)

Casts A, B, and D: All dancers auditioning need to be available 12/9 and/ or 12/10 for Dress rehearsals

Casts C& E: All dancers auditioning need to also be available for 12/16. & 12/13 as well as 12/16-12/23.  

 All casts will be announced by Sept 22rd via email with specific performance dates so you can get your tickets, join the 2026 Nutcracker "band" group, confirm participation and start gathering feedback from families and friends to purchase tickets as they tend to sell earlier then most shows. Some roles will be contacted earlier to start following weekend.

There is an Audition fee of $35 due in advance (see link in email body) or at the time of the audition along with the form. This fee will be applied towards the $140 performance fee and will include rehearsals, costume rentals, and a digital link to performances. In addition to this fee, we are requiring a minimum of 10 hours volunteer hours/ family.  This may include help with marketing, backstage help, costume organization, Public Relations, and performance follow ups. Rehearsals will be starting as early as 9/18 & 9/19 for some roles with most starting the weekend of 10/2 & 10/3. The remainder $105 participation fee will be due by 9/30. 

All weekly rehearsals will be on Friday after school 4:00-8p and/ or Saturday between 10a-5p.  Your dancers will not need to be there the entire time, just available at these times.  Specific schedule for casts will be posted shortly after casting. All dancers need to be available for tech and dress rehearsals. More detailed schedules will go out shortly after casting.
