Sand Sculpture Contest

Spend your Saturday on the shores of Grand Haven for the annual Sand Sculpture Contest — a creative, family-friendly tradition held the day before Father’s Day.

Participants will have from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM to design and build their sand sculpture — anything from castles to creatures to abstract art! Work individually or in teams of friends, family, or coworkers.

This year, we're excited to welcome back the Sand Pirates and Sand Fanatics, professional sand sculptors who will be on-site to create a fun demonstration sculpture and offer tips and inspiration to participants. Don't miss the chance to see what the pros can do!

Once time is up, a panel of local celebrity judges will review each sculpture and select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from each category. Spectators can also vote for their favorite creation in the People’s Choice Award.

Winners will be announced shortly after judging, with prizes awarded to the top sculptors. Whether you're building or just enjoying the beach vibes, this event promises a day of creativity, competition, and summer fun.

Please note: This is a rain or shine event. In case of more serious weather a delayed start is an option and will be communicated the night before to the team captains. The event will be canceled if dangerous lightning is present and persistent. Registration fees are non-refundable. Come prepared and dress for whatever Michigan weather throws our way!
