Locdogs Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Class
10-11am every Wednesday, June 4 - July 30, 2025
First Block, downtown Grand Haven

This class is designed to promote responsible dog ownership and encourage the training of well-mannered dogs in a public setting. We will focus on basic obedience, socialization, and good manners in everyday situations, while preparing dogs and their handlers for the official AKC CGC certification test, which will be offered in the final class.
Class Highlights:
• Teach your dog to walk politely on a leash
• Practice reliable sit, down, stay, and come commands
• Improve your dog’s manners around strangers and other dogs
• Prepare for real-world distractions and environments
• Build confidence and strengthen the human-canine bond
Skills Covered:
1. Accepting a friendly stranger
2. Sitting politely for petting
3. Appearance and grooming
4. Loose-leash walking
5. Walking through a crowd
6. Sit and down on command, and staying in place
7. Coming when called
8. Reaction to another dog
9. Reaction to distractions
10. Supervised separation
Who Should Attend:
• Dogs of all breeds and ages (generally 6 months and older)
• Handlers looking to improve basic obedience
• Those interested in earning the AKC CGC title
Duration: 9 weeks, with a CGC test offered at the final class on July 30.
Prerequisite: Basic obedience recommended but not required.
