If anyone is interested in joining N.O.M.H.A.D.S. (Nobly Ordered Mindful Hikers Advocating Diversity Society) of a Rim-to-Rim Hiking Experience: Part 3: South Kaibab Trailhead to the Colorado River (Note: This hike for a total of 14 miles you do not have to do the whole 14 miles if you do not want to) on 4/18/2026 at 6am. Now, again you do not have to do the whole 14 miles here are the following spots that we will stop along the way and you can turn around:
South Kaibab Trail to Ooh Aah Point which is 1.8 miles (out and back), 879 feet of elevation gain with great views
South Kaibab Trail to Cedar Ridge which is 3.1 miles (out and back), 1181 feet of elevation gain with great views and bathrooms
South Kaibab Trail to Skeleton Point which is 5.8 miles (out and back), 2027 feet of elevation gain with great views of the Colorado River
South Kaibab Trail to Tip Off is 8.9 miles (out and back), 3254 feet elevation gain with great views and bathrooms
You are wondering Rim to Rim, yes, N.O.M.H.A.D.S. have decided to break up the rims into parts so that we can get a feel of the trail and what to expect from the trail. Now, some of the group members are going the day before (4/17/2026) to get acclimated with the elevation you are more than welcome to join the day before. If you need to pick up any last-minute items head to Flagstaff, Arizona which is a little over an hour from the Grand Canyon South Rim Visitor Center. The entrance fee is $35.00 (Note: Annual Pass which is $80.00 and you will be able to get into all national parks all year round... It is worth it!). The address is South Entrance Road, Grand Canyon Village, AZ 86023 (Note: We will provide more coordination as the event gets closer and monitor the weather as well). Of course, bring water, snacks, comfortable shoes/ hiking boots, and any other hiking necessities. This trail is not dog friendly.
Any trail that N.O.M.H.A.D.S. are doable!!!
NOTE: N.O.M.H.A.D.S. are not guides, you are responsible for your own self so, take your time, go at your own pace, and use your own judgement when on the trail.
