Children will be able to enjoy stories written by First Nations authors and read by our special guest, Muffy Hedges, followed by a craft activity. There will also be the chance to browse a NAIDOC Week book display showcasing our Indigenous collection items. This event is suitable for families with children ages 3-6. Adults are required to stay.


MEET MUFFY

Muffy Hedges, a proud Darug woman, came to Goulburn in 1978 and trained as a teacher at Goulburn College of Advanced Education. Since then, she has regularly contributed to the Goulburn performing arts scene in a variety of capacities, be it on stage, in bands, choirs or the orchestra pit, in countless productions, recitals and performances. As a teacher in the public school system for over 40 years, she has voluntarily trained hundreds of children in choirs and poetry recitals for the Goulburn Eisteddfod. Muffy is a member of the Lieder Theatre Company and Goulburn Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. Recognising the beneficial lifelong value of participating in the Creative and Performing Arts to the development of the whole child, it is that which motivates Muffy to continue to provide children with experiences they can pursue or indeed, later draw on as adults.
