We're so happy to welcome internationally acclaimed Icelandic musician Jófríður Ákadóttir, known professionally as JFDR, to Gothenburg for a one-off headline show this spring.
Since beginning her music career at the age of 14 with band Pascal Pinon, Ákadóttir has released 12 records, collaborated with renowned artists Ólafur Arnalds and Damien Rice, and garnered fans across the world – including Björk, who cites Ákadóttir as an inspiration.
Her shimmering, ambient pop conjures up images of the omnipresent beauty of nature and of us within it, navigating the spaces between contemporary indie folklore with a grace that remains clearly recognisable even in her quiet, experimental tones.
Recent solo albums ‘New Dreams’ (2020) and Museum’ (2023) received widespread critical acclaim, including from the likes of Pitchfork, Paste Magazine and The Line of Best Fit, with the latter describing Ákadóttir as “A rare phenomenon”.
This spring, JFDR will be supporting Japanese folk artist Ichiko Aoba on a major international tour, and we’re thrilled to be able to welcome Jófríður to Gothenburg for a one-off headline show in between dates in Copenhagen and Stockholm.
Support comes from Emiliano Sacripanti, an Argentinian musician and producer based in Gothenburg, Sweden. His music builds from a foundation of classical guitar and vocals, with songs that unfold gradually through evolving textures and the use of loops. As a songwriter, Emiliano draws inspiration from Argentine folk, indie-folk, and ambient influences, and his artistic approach leans into an organic, analogue sound.
