“Working: A Musical” will be performed at The Goshen Theater, 216 S. Main St.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2 and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 3.
Tickets cost $15 for students and senior citizens and $20 general admission. They can be purchased online at goshentheater.org. Tickets are also available at the theater box office from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.
The musical’s source material is Studs Terkel’s 1974 nonfiction classic “Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do”. It showcases 26 characters from various and often unsung occupations, including a waitress, firefighter, teacher, project manager, steelworker, trucker,
millworker, community activist, fundraiser, and more.
The Goshen shows will be in a “reader’s theater” format -- performers will read scripts aloud with a focus on interpretation and expression rather than memorization. The “Working” cast includes Adam Meehan, Michael Litteral, Daniel Grey, Kent Beck, Antwon Williams, Janessa Katzer, Madeline Kauffman Hurst, Kiersten Friesner, Erin Peters, Carmah Parr, Lexi Schwartz, April Pollock, Myah Englebrecht, Aysia Adkins, Leif Billings, Bennett Silveus, and Jocsan Barahona Rosales.
“Working” is being produced by Goshen Theater staff in collaboration with Theatre’s Edge, a new local arts venture under the artistic direction of Marilyn Sexton Mason. The goal of Theatre’s Edge is to bring thought-provoking productions on a small scale to the Goshen community. Sexton Mason is the
“Working” creative director.
