- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 01 May, 2026 at 04:30 pm – Fri, 30 Oct, 2026 at 05:30 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: Come sing, dance, and explore together in this interactive music and storytime class for children ages 2-6 and their caregivers.About this EventThis one-hour experience for children ages 2-6 and their caregivers blends the magic of storytelling with the joy of music, all set against the living backdrop of our biodiverse farm. Each class features playful, farm-inspired themes — from sprouting plants and friendly animals to buzzing insects and the changing seasons — inviting children to explore the rhythms and wonders of nature through song, movement, and story.During class, children join in call-and-response and sing-along songs designed just for little voices. They’ll play simple hand percussion instruments, explore rhythm through clapping, tapping, and hand gestures, and build listening skills through interactive musical games. With plenty of opportunities for large movement, children will hop like bunnies, stomp like horses, sway like tall grass, and stretch like growing sunflowers—strengthening gross motor skills while having tons of fun. This engaging, hands-on class nurtures confidence, coordination, creativity, and a love for music in a warm and welcoming farm setting.Caregivers are required to stay and actively supervise and participate with their children. While our facilitator guides activities, this is a time for family connection, shared discovery, and nature play together!About the Instructor:Henry Prol is an experienced educator, musician, and lifelong learner with over 10 years of Montessori classroom experience working with children ages 2-12. He holds a teacher certification from the American Montessori Society and is passionate about nurturing curiosity through hands-on, discovery-based learning that fosters independence and joy.In addition to his classroom experience, Henry has led lively singalong-style music classes for young children, blending rhythm, movement, and storytelling into memorable learning experiences. He spent years studying music and singing in the glee club at Rutgers University. As a musician and songwriter, he plays piano, bass, and guitar, bringing warmth and creativity to every class he teaches.Safety rules for Farm Lab families:Be sure to stay with your child and keep them under close supervision at all times on the farm. While we welcome your children to explore and have hands-on experiences here, please remember that we are a working farm and be mindful of your child’s safety in their surroundings. We love our farm animals and know that you do, too! Please treat our animals with respect. Please help your child to observe them calmly and do not allow them to chase, poke, crowd, yell at or pester animals. Your child may touch/pet an animal only if invited to by an AOOA team member. Please remember to stay with the group. During class time, we ask that you refrain from wandering or exploring independently around the farm. Please be aware of our restricted areas and observe all posted signage. Please do not enter any tool rooms, barns, or other work spaces unless supervised by an AOOA team member. Keep equipment safety in mind: do not touch any tools, machinery, or electrical components. Climbing on tractors is not permitted.Practice water safety near the pond! You must stay within arm’s reach of your child when near the water. Unless you are a goose, duck, or heron, please stay out of the pond. Our farm uses electric fences to safely contain our many happy animals. Never touch any fence, and be vigilant in keeping your children away from them. These fences are often moved around the farm to serve their varying needs, so you may encounter them in different places from week to week. Clothing recommendations:Our outdoor farm education classes are designed to run rain or shine. Please check the weather in the morning and help your child to dress appropriately so that they can enjoy their time outdoors! For every class, we recommend waterproof boots or shoes. If there’s rain in the forecast, we suggest adding a rain jacket and, if possible, rain pants to stay comfortable during the session. Sunscreen, bug protection, and a sun hat are recommended for warmer days.Inclement weather policy:While we firmly believe in the Scandinavian motto “There’s no bad weather, only bad clothing!” there may unfortunately be times when dangerous conditions prevent our class from meeting. In the event of thunderstorms or other severe weather, we will cancel the class and notify parents at least one day in advance. You will receive a notification via ? (Alix, is it text/email?) by Friday if we must cancel class on Saturday. You will receive a full refund and are encouraged to sign up for a future date that works best for your family. We are so excited to welcome you and your children to AOOA, and to the learning community of Farm Lab.
