- **Event Description**: Cricket Comforts is gathering to continue our Spring Pillowcase Challenge to create 1000 bright cheerful pillowcases for the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, and other places where children are in need of comfort and cheering. 
At our last gathering we collected and created a total of 268 pillowcase of the 1000 pillowcases needed to meet our goal. Thanks to all who generously shared their time, talents, and supplies to make this possible.
For lunch you have a choice to bring something to share and join our potluck or bring a brown bag lunch. We will supply makings for coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. We will also have paper products, and plasticware available. We recommend bring your own covered refillable cup as these cut down on spills and staining of fabrics.

If you would like to sew please bring your own portable sewing machine. We typically use white or neutral thread, If ironing and you have room to bring your ironing board please do. We have pins, for those who prefer to pin.

For those who would like to donate fabric to help create the pillowcases, we use 100% cotton fabric, with no glitter or metallics. The hospital also asks for no flannel fabrics. Each pillowcase uses 3/4 of a yard or 27" of full width(42-44") for the main portion, and 10" of full width(42-44") for the cuff, and we also add an accent strip which uses 2.25-3" of fabric. I usually recommend when purchasing fabrics to buy in increments of 3/4 of a yard = 1 pillowcase, 1 1/2  yards = 2 pillowcases, 2 1/4 yards = 3 pillowcases, or 3 yards = 4 pillowcases. We are in ned of Sports, Ice hockey, basketball, soccer,  biking, dancing, any sports your child loves. The children also love character prints, Bluey, Dora, Mickey, Minnie, Hot Wheels, Star Wars, and many others. Transportation and occupation prints like police cars, school bus, plane, trains, bikes, skateboards and automobiles are also love by children. If you have any questions, please ask we are happy to help. I have good luck finding children's prints at Marden's and Fabric Warehouse. Occasionally, they can also be found at Michael's in their growing fabric department and Walmart.
