Dear future titleholder,

Hope Journey International is far more than a pageant—it is a global platform that empowers children and women to discover their unique talents and use them to serve others. 
Founded by Ingrid Burger-Du Plooy, in collaboration with Ben Reynecke, Sandra Walters-Lewis, and Jordan Willett, this revolutionary program was born out of the award-winning charity Acting Hope (NPO 131-510). 

It focuses on giving confidence, opportunity, and tangible hope to individuals in disadvantaged communities across South Africa and around the world.

Unlike traditional pageants, Hope Journey International is not about outward appearances, glitz, or glamour. It is about your character, values, and the size of your heart. As a titleholder, representing your area or country in this transformative program means becoming a voice for change—a leader committed to uplifting your community and living a life of purpose.

At the heart of the program is the motto: “Use your talents and serve others…” This principle guides each finalist through a structured four-step journey that includes recruitment, mentorship and training, community project implementation, and a powerful annual showcase in Cape Town.

What truly sets Hope Journey International apart is its 70% scoring weight given to community service and interviews during the finalist phase, highlighting the program’s dedication to substance over style. This system actively promotes sustainable development, mental and educational growth, and cross-cultural connection in countries such as South Africa, Japan, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, the Philippines, Australia, and Namibia.
As a titleholder, you become a beacon of hope, resilience, and transformation—someone who leads by example, develops sustainable community projects, and inspires others to dream bigger. Through mentorship in leadership, communication, fundraising, and outreach, you’ll not only grow personally, but also leave a lasting legacy in the lives of those you touch.
