- **Event Description**: Please join us at 11am or 3pm for this presentation by Kevin Klaus of the Texas General Land Office. 

Presentaion Description: If you had an ancestor who came to Texas to be a settler or fight in the Texas Revolution and later died before becoming established or receiving a grant of land.  How would the family prove they were related or due a land grant in the name of the deceased?  Perhaps a settler had issues trying to prove they were eligible for land?  The Court of Claims was established by a legislative act, to ascertain the legal claims for money and lands against the State.  Just like any court case, a body of evidence was brought forth to prove a claim for land.  These files are full of information that may include heirship documents, names of family members.  Possible affidavits from fellow soldiers, detailed descriptions of people or events.   You may find actual letters from family members or someone who may have died in the Texas Revolution.  This talk will cover all the aspects of these files with a focus on those that served and died at Goliad.  

These presentations will take place in Our Lady of Loreto Chapel and are free with padi admission to the site.
