Growing Roots Camp is a thrilling 3-day adventure where kids unearth Texas history, explore native landscapes, and experience the traditions of the first people of Central Texas! The journey wraps up on Saturday May 31st with a special Native American Celebration, open to the public, featuring performers from Georgetown Powwow.  Bring the whole family for this immersive experience into present Native American culture.

What’s in Store?
* Nature Adventures – Make yucca soap and plant dyes while exploring the different ways indigenous groups relied on the land for food, tools, shelter and medicine.
* Storytelling Through Art – Learn about the earliest forms of communication through pictographs & sign language and the stories left behind through these prehistoric pieces of art.
* Hands-on Archaeology – Dig for artifacts and watch a flintknapper in action!
* Native American Celebration (Day 4!) – Interact with lively dancers, engaging show-and-tell demonstrations, drum circles, arts & crafts, and more.

Who Can Join?
Open to kids entering grades K-6 who love nature, history, and hands-on fun. This camp is in collaboration with Jennie Trent Dew Library and Mills County Historical Museum and is completely FREE.
