Ever heard of a Calcutta? Here’s your chance to experience one for yourself!

Date: April 24, 2026

Location: Lark Hill Race Club (70 Stakehill Rd) 
Entry: FREE 
Note: this is strictly an 18+ event 

Join us for a fun-filled night where each horse in the race has a chance to be won by pre-purchasing raffle tickets. 

This event is being held at the track on the Friday before Race Day! Want to be the first to see the event space? Come and join us from 6pm for a great night of good food, beverages and your chance to "own a horse" for the day! 

How it works: 
You can bid solo or team up with friends to “buy” a horse. Once all horses are sold, the total prize pool is created from the auction proceeds.

Raffle tickets cost $10 each and will be sold in the weeks leading up to and including the Calcutta Night. You can purchase these from Harbour Sports Bar and Grill in Secret Harbour. Tuesday - Friday (5pm-6pm) 

The raffle ticket sales create a pool of money called the ‘Starting Pool'. On the day of the Calcutta, the tickets are drawn out for the respective Lark Hill Cup horses. Those lucky enough to have drawn a horse are the ‘Horse Owner’

At this point the horses will then be auctioned off with everyone present at the auction. If the successful bidder is not the original ‘Horse Owner’ they must pay the full price with 50% going to the original ‘Horse Owner’ and the other 50% going to the ‘Starting Pool’. The successful bidder will then become the new ‘Horse Owner’

If the original ‘Horse Owner’ would like to keep their horse, they must have the highest bid. However, they only have to pay half the amount they have successfully bid. This amount also goes to the ’Starting Pool’. The pool of prize money is therefore made up of the original
ticket sales plus the amount paid from the auction of the horses.

The prize money then is given as per the results of the Lark Hill Cup as follows:
1st 55%
2nd 25%
3rd 10%

Please note on any horses scratched after the Auction, 50% of the Bidding price will be refunded.

So basically summed up, you’re not betting on the race… you’re buying into it! 🎯
