You might think it all began in Silicon Valley or Cape Canaveral, but the modern small satellite revolution actually started right here in Surrey.

In the late 1970s, a young academic at the University of Surrey had a bold idea: what if spacecraft could be smaller, smarter, and affordable?

That idea became UoSAT-1, launched by NASA in 1981 and it went on to change how the world does space.

Join Professor Craig Underwood, Emeritus Professor of Spacecraft Engineering, for a fascinating, behind-the-scenes story of how Surrey became a global force in space technology and how it helped shape what we now call Space 2.0.
