About the event

Cranleigh Carnival, Fun Day and Morrisfest
Saturday 27th June 2026 from 10am
On the Common, adjacent to the High Street, Cranleigh

Every visitor, young and old, is guaranteed a great day out at the Cranleigh Lions Carnival

Featuring our ever popular side shows, Coconut Shy, Splat the Rat, Crockery Smash, Punch & Judy, as well as craft and flower stalls, charity stands and showcases for many local businesses. There is no entry fee; come and go as you like.

Once again we are bringing together some fantastic Morris Dancing Groups, ( Sides ), to create what we are sure will be, another truly memorable ‘Morrisfest’.

Morris Dancing has been a tradition at village festivals for centuries. Groups will dance at various locations around the village during the morning; they will form a colourful and entertaining addition to the Parade and then come together in the Carnival Arena during the afternoon to celebrate the joy of Morris Dancing. Sides confirmed so far include:

Boxhill Bedlam – A bold, creative, and lively mixed-gender Border Morris side from Dorking, blending tradition with a touch of cheeky rebellion and a striking steam-goth aesthetic. Performances combine rhythmic steps, clashing sticks, and moves inspired by local myths, all set to a haunting folk sound with modern riffs.

Broadwood Morris Men and Longsword Dancers – Horsham’s favourite Morris Side since 1972. Performing dances based on a centuries old tradition.

Fleur de Lys Morris – From Godalming. Established in 1976, dancing Stave, Cotswold and some Border dances, plus their very own Farncombe Tradition music and dances.

Mayflower Morris – A Northwest style morris dance team. Based in Ash Vale on the Surrey/Hampshire border, they perform traditional, new and swapped clog dance routines with precision and energy.

Rampant Rooster Morris – A mixed Morris side based firmly in the Cotswold tradition, but with a good number of Border dances (from the counties bordering Wales), providing additional colour and swirling strong movement.

Sun Oak Clog – A team who dance the traditional clog step-dance. This style of dance started in the industrial revolution, when the mill workers wore wooden soled clogs because of the water underfoot. They soon found the sounds made by these clogs could be made more interesting, & it developed into a dance form. After many emigrated to America, it became the basis for tap dancing.

If that isn’t enough, we have a wonderful selection of acts, entertainers and attractions for your enjoyment at the event.
Benson’s Fun Fair – Children’s rides
Hodman and Sally – The award-winning puppet walkabout characters.
Johnny Slap – A unique entertainer, featuring slapstick comedy, variety and circus
Professor Crump – Entertainer, clown, stilt-walker and jester
Angie Mack – International hula hoop performer
Basil & Crew – Your friendly educational mobile farm
Rock Choir
Rachel Hayward Bongo
A traditional Barrel Organ
Plus, two fantastic samba bands!
Bloco-Do-Sul – Playing samba-style rhythms inspired by bands from Brazil
Barulho – Hot samba reggae funk from Brighton
