About the event

All My Life’s Buried Here: The Story of George Butterworth (12A)
Discover the moving story of George Butterworth, a brilliant young English composer whose life and music were tragically cut short at the Somme in 1916.

This acclaimed documentary explores his celebrated works (A Shropshire Lad, The Banks of Green Willow), his close friendship with Ralph Vaughan Williams and his role in the pre-WWI folk revival, collecting songs across Surrey and Sussex.

With rare archive footage, interviews, and music that still resonates today, it’s a fascinating portrait of a composer whose legacy lives on.
