For this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to work with pre-cut clay shapes to turn into ornaments or wall hangings, using colored glaze to paint their designs. This workshop will include guidance and direction on basic ceramic materials from Quinn as you create your design. There will be fired glaze color tiles available for reference, so participants can get an idea of how their finished result will appear. Each session will consist of a series of “non-compete” games that stimulate both the body and the mind. Each game will be clearly explained, and if it involves any physical touch, people will have the option to participate or not. Each play session focuses on inclusion, letting go, and learning to inject a sense of play into our day-to-day lives. If mobility is an issue, I will have options that are less physically demanding. Some of the games played will also include moments of strategy, problem-solving, and learning various forms of communication, including non-verbal. The purpose of this time is to help people learn how to better connect with the natural world, to understand the purpose of gaining a sense of awe of their natural surroundings and that meditation can also be in the form of quiet walking and contemplation. When life or situations seem or feel overwhelming, reminding people that stepping out of the noise of the man-made world and into a world that does not judge, hate, or see us for anyone other than our authentic selves is healing and empowering. Being reminded that the simplicity of “stepping on grass” has measurable positive implications for caring for our Whole Health. The 8 Pillars are Physical Activity, Sleep, Nutrition and how we eat, Purpose, Nature Immersion, The Power of Play, Toxic stress management, and Service. Working with our species for over three decades in various capacities, as well as my own personal story, has allowed me the opportunity to see patterns and weak links in folks' Whole Health.
