In most spontaneous births, there is no need for medical care, but emergency situations can sometimes arise without warning. Learning what situations might occur and what medical professionals do to manage an emergency at home and can help you remain calm whether you are a parent, doula, or birthworker.

Suitable for birthworkers and parents alike, this workshop helps you consider and prepare for unexpected situations that can sometimes happen in birth, and informs birth supporters of their legal role and responsibilities in supporting birth in the absence of midwifery care.

Birth is safer with competent midwives in attendance, but sometimes birth happens before a midwife arrives (BBA) or whilst you are travelling to a birth centre. 
This is not a workshop about freebirth, but in the current climate where maternity attendance at homebirths is not guaranteed, it is a good idea to prepare by educating yourself.
