- **Event Description**: We , the Friends of the Derwent (and surely we are ALL friends of the Derwent) will be making a pilgrimage down the River. We will convene at Fairholmes Visitor centre on Sunday 14th June. Then we shall literally go with the flow. The route is over 6 days and anyone is welcome to join us at any point. 
We shall be testing the water quality as we go, there will be a River Blessing each day, a time of contemplative walking and some evening events to celebrate our glorious Derwent.
Derwent River Pilgrimage 2026 

Sunday 14th June: 
Meet at Derwent Dam, Fairholmes 1p.m walk to Bamford
Monday 15th June: Bamford to Baslow
Tuesday 14th June: Baslow to Rowsley to Matlock ( 6 p.m. Gather at Matlock Hall Leys Park) 
Wednesday 17th June: Matlock to Whatstandwell to Belper
( 6 p.m.celebrate at River Gardens/CoCreate if wet)
Thursday 18h June: Belper to Little Eaton to Derby
( 6 p.m. celebrate at Derby River Gardens then move to Thrivemind for 7.30 )
Friday 19th June: Derby to Borrowash to Derwent Mouth

We will begin walking from the start point at 9 a.m. each day – but possible meditation/reflection time before this.

We aim to be at the end destination by 6 p.m. each day.

We aim to test the river Derwent daily...proposed: Fairholmes, Bamford, Matlock Leys, ( Belper?) Derby, Derwent Mouth


Even if you can't join us on the walk please do join us at the evening gatherings for a celebration. You are welcome to bring a song, poem, story, memory - anything to share with other Derwent Lovers.
