CHAS Race Night
In July 2026, we will be taking on an incredible challenge — cycling from London to Paris — to raise vital funds for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS). CHAS provides compassionate hospice care for babies, children, and young people with life-shortening conditions, as well as invaluable support for their families during the most difficult times.
As part of this mission to raise funds, we are holding a Race Night, details being : -
Date: Friday 13th March
Time : Doors Open 7:15pm
Venue : Markinch Bowling Club, Bowling Green Road, Markinch, KY7 6BD
Entry Ticket : £10
The venue has a bar that will be open for the event and also a buffet will be provided during the evening.
There will be 8 races, each race having 8 horses. The horses for the 8th race will be arranged on the night.
It is hoped that each race will have a sponsor, these sponsors will be announced before and after each race.
Before the evening, for the first 7 races, you will have the opportunity to purchase a horse and/or become a jockey.
To buy a horse will cost £10 – and you will be able to give a name for the horse (but please keep the name sensible – funny is good but not rude etc etc). The organisers have the right to reject names if deemed inappropriate. If your horse wins a race, you will receive 50% of the takings for horse ownership for that race. So, if all 8 horses are sold for a race then the prize will be £40.
You can also be a jockey, this will cost £5, normally we will use your name as the jockey. If the horse you’re riding wins the race, you will receive 50% of the jockey income. So if there are 8 jockeys in the race, the prize for winning will be £20.
The other 50% for both horse and jockey incomes will go to CHAS.
During the evening, you will have the opportunity to place bets on each race. Each bet on a horse costs £1. 50% of the money raised by the bests for the race is paid out to winners of a horse race the other 50% goes to CHAS.
We will also be having a raffle and other games during the evening.
