# Event Details

- **Event Name**: Victoria Naftal: Cheers to Coleoptera Artist in Residence Opening
- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 09 Oct, 2026 at 06:00 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: Step inside the remarkable world of Artist in Residence Victoria Naftal, an award-winning puppet fabricator whose unusual creations blur the boundaries between sculpture and natural history.

During her residency, Naftal has crafted insect specimens, meticulously sculpted and wearing handmade clothing, with rich lives of their own in the natural world. Each creature has a unique role in the ecosystem, and Naftal’s whimsical portrayals invite us to learn about their lives and their contributions to the environment with endearing humor.

During this exhibition, guests will be invited into Naftal's creative practice, following the evolution of a puppet from its earliest wire armature through the layered process of sculpting, fabrication, and character development. The exhibition includes artifacts from the puppet development process, the characters themselves, photographs of their daily lives, and stop motion videography.

Themed refreshments are included. A modest $5 ticket price supports the Artist in Residency program at Warwick Furnace Farm.
