(Located 1/2 block south of Glendale Avenue in the Hall which is the separate non-smoking building with the large mural.)At this meetup, we aim to create a space where women veterans can share their experiences, form meaningful connections, and find support from fellow veterans who understand their unique journey. Whether you're still in the military, recently transitioning into civilian life, or have been out of the service for years, this event provides an opportunity to create genuine connections exchange stories and build a strong community of like-minded individuals.During the meetup we will facilitate engaging discussions, offer resources, and provide valuable information on various topics relevant to women veterans.Topic of the Month:Veterans Benefits Process & Disability Claims with a special focus on Military Sexual TraumaWhat to expect: Presentation and Q&A with Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services Accredited Female Veteran Benefits Counselors in a supportive environment.Why this topic: April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. An estimated 33% of women veterans experience Military Sexual Trauma (MST), a term used by the VA to refer to sexual assault or harassment that occurs during military service. Some Veterans experience MST during their service & these traumas can affect mental and physical health even many years later. If you experienced MST during service and suffer physically or mentally because of trauma, you may be eligible for treatment & access to other benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs.The VA and Vet Centers have services available to help mental or physical health conditions related to your experiences of MST. Veterans can also apply for disability compensation for any current health conditions that were caused by or worsened because of their military service, including conditions related to MST.Navigating this process can be challenging & you do not need to do it alone or on your own!Want to connect with someone before the event or need support now?
